MWEP stands for Michigan Wedding & Event Professionals and was created by Amanda Freeman in 2009. It was started as a way for local wedding & event pros to network in a fun and casual way. There are so many options for professional associations in Michigan, but we are completely different. The mission of MWEP is to create a fun and inviting way to network with other creative professionals in a not-so-cookie-cutter way. We are so much more than business cards and elevator speeches. We are a way to create an organic and real relationship with the people you work with every day.
In an industry where everyone seems to compete for business, MWEP creates an atmosphere of collaboration and authenticity. We are only as good as our members make us. So, participate in conversations, share your recommendations and referrals and have a drink with that awesome vendor you've been dying to meet.
Our membership has had constant growth, growing from a small group of 15 people at our first meeting, to well over 200 participating members in our first year alone. The Michigan wedding industry has been craving something like this for a long, long time and now you have a chance to get in on the action.
MWEP sponsors quarterly "Mixers", which are free or very low cost, for all of our members to grab a cocktail and chat with other members in a casual and relaxed environment. These mixers are hosted in all of our area chapters, including Southeast Michigan, Grand Rapids, Mid Michigan, and others. We also add to these chapters as interest is found.
